Sharon Rufaro Kavhu-Da Fonseca is a Communications Specialist and Digital strategist with over 14 years of experience driving impactful media and communications solutions across Africa. Known for her ability to craft compelling narratives; develop, implement and lead strategic digital initiatives, Sharon brings a wealth of expertise in communication planning, events, campaigns, content creation, digital innovation, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and community development.

She has led high-level communication and digital media strategies for major international and regional events, including the Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) Green Hydrogen Symposium (2024), the COMHAFAT/ATLAFCO Ministerial Conference on Fisheries Cooperation among African States in Morocco (2023), the SADC 38 th Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government in Namibia (2018). Her work in these roles demonstrates a unique ability to merge traditional media with modern digital tools to amplify visibility, engagement, and impact.

From 2016 to 2022, Sharon served as Digital Editor for The Southern Times Newspaper, where she was instrumental in developing the publication’s digital presence and content strategy. She has since consulted for various institutions, including the Namibia State House Media Team, providing expert support in digital communications and media strategy. Earlier in her career, she was one of the pioneering digital content creators for The Herald (Zimpapers)—a move that marked her as a frontrunner in Africa’s transition to digital journalism.

Driven by a deep commitment to health equity, climate justice, gender justice, environmental sustainability, and human rights, Sharon uses communication not just to

inform, but to inspire action and shape meaningful policy dialogue. Her work continues to transform how institutions engage with audiences—online and offline across Africa and the global South.

Her technical and creative skills include: Advanced writing, editing, and proofing for print and online media; Storytelling (text and video), scripting, and directing; Videography,

photography, and documentary production; Motion graphics and visual design using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign); Website and social media management; and Digital content strategy and analytics.

Sharon is known for her articulate communication style, critical thinking, and ability to tailor messages for audiences ranging from grassroots communities to diplomatic circles. Her storytelling is grounded in a strong commitment to health equity, gender justice, environmental sustainability, Tax justice and human rights.
